FAQs

  • What should I wear and bring for the ride?

Closed toed shoes and long pants are recommended but not mandatory. You can ride in shorts and flip-flops if you like!

We are in higher elevation (8,500 feet), so its generally cooler than the Front Range. Our temperatures in the summer are usually in the low to mid seventies.

An extra sweater or a light coat is recommended on cooler days or in the spring and fall.

The saddle horns have little saddle bags that will hold a small water bottle, phone, wallet and maybe a snack for longer rides.

Backpacks are not recommended.

  • Are the rides “walk only”?

We adjust the rides to match your group’s skill level. If everyone is comfortable and able to pick up the pace, we can certainly go faster on occasion. However, our routes mostly consist of somewhat rocky and winding singletrack trails which aren’t conducive to high speeds at all times.

For a genuine advanced adventure ride featuring extended cantering sections, we recommend booking a private tour.

  • I have never ridden before. Which ride is best for me?

Never ridden before? You’re in good company! Most of our guests are beginners just looking to take in the mountain views from the saddle.

The 1.5 or 2-hour tours are perfectly manageable for most adults. Expect some soreness afterwards, but the experience is well worth it.

Our expert guides will teach you how to cue your horse and you’ll likely even have the chance to try a light trot by the end.

If you are bringing very young children, or if you struggle with joint stiffness, the one hour ride is the best choice.

Rides that are 3 or 4 hours are best, if you are already somewhat experienced and ride more regularly.

  • Is there a little wiggle room in the weight limit?

Yes, thanks for asking! A little over 200 lbs is ok. We are not going to ask you to step on a scale. We have a couple of bigger horses that can handle more weight. If you are just a little over, go ahead and book in the 150-200 lbs category.  If you weigh more than 215 lbs please give us a call to book.

  • What is the minimum age?

As of May 15th 2026 the minimum age to go on a trail ride is 6 years old. Kids under 6 years old can do a pony ride where an adult leads the horse around on the property.

  • Can I bring my horse some apple or carrots?

Absolutely! Your horse will love the treat! If you don’t have anything, ask us, we will give you a treat to feed your horse.
