Meet Our Horses
All our horses have been raised and trained here at Beaver Meadows by us.
George
Little George is our newest addition. He was born on April 23 2025.
Leila
Leila is our big, beautiful black Percheron mare. Despite her impressive size – 18hh – she is exceptionally gentle and sweet. She is still young and learning the ropes, but with her calm, kind nature, we think she is going to make a wonderful trail horse.
Socks
Socks is a tall, quiet, dependable gelding and a true all-around ranch horse. He’s worked as a pack horse, carries riders on the trail, and is one of the horses we use to help run the herd out to pasture. Socks does have his own ideas about trail placement—whenever possible, he’d rather walk next to the trail than actually on it.
Fiona
Fiona is a beautiful young Percheron–Quarter Horse mare—big, strong, and perfectly capable.
Fiona, however, would like you to believe that she is perpetually exhausted and really needs to eat. Don’t be fooled:)
Horses running
Morning commute, Beaver Meadows style. Every morning the herd comes running in from pasture – and every evening, they thunder back out again.
Sunshine and Muffin
These two veterans have been taking care of our younger riders for years.
Sunshine is patient and dependable without being lazy, and her little shuffle trot is about as comfortable as a trot gets.
Muffin has perfected his own trail riding technique: walk slowly, fall a little behind, the trot to catch up. Repeat as necessary.
William
William is our big young gentleman—a 3-year-old Canadian-bred stallion (now gelding), half Warmblood and quarter Draft, already standing an impressive 16.2 hands. Despite his size and age, he is exceptionally gentle and sensible. And if all went according to plan, we’re hoping to meet a few little Williams in 2027!
Granita
George’s mom and pretty much the best of all worlds. She’s tall, safe, super comfortable, and has plenty of go.
Her one little quirk? She sometimes likes to tailgate the horse in front of her. And we’re pretty sure George may be getting a little brother or sister in 2027, by William!
Horses on winter pasture
Winter is vacation for our horses. They spend the season on huge grass pastures down off the mountain, with hundreds of acres to roam—living their best horse lives until it’s time to come back to work in the spring.
