We are currently looking for a Wrangler/Guide Horsetrainer for 2013

Job description:

Mostly guiding trail rides into the Roosevelt National Forest. Also caring for and feeding the horses, trail maintenance, fixing fences etc. Training on young horses in slow times.

Time frame:

2 days/week in June. Full time (40/h PLUS a week) from July until August 15th.

After that on weekends or more until Labor Day Weekend.

In the winter there is an opening to work on weekends and throughout the Christmas holidays driving our horse drawn sleigh rides. This is a full time job over the winter holidays.

Pay starts at $7.78/hour plus tips. Tips are not guaranteed but can be considerable.

We do NOT offer any housing. Person needs to be able to travel or organize their own housing.

About us:

We are a small riding stable with just over 20 horses.

We specialize in small groups and customized rides.-

Our horses make the difference: We have a string of beautiful young horses that are well bred and fun to ride. Most of them we train and/or raise ourselves.

Why this is a great job:

This is a great job for somebody who is truly interested in horses and wants to enhance their training skills. In the slow times we do a lot of training. Right person can get more hours after the summer helping with training.

We also do our own shoeing. Can teach if interested.

This is a great place to work, its beautiful here in the summer, and everybody cares and tries to make this fun for everybody.

What I expect:

I want somebody who is truly interested in horses and is committed and reliable.

Applicant has to be fairly light weight (no more than 180lbs) to be able to ride the smaller horses and colts.

Applicant needs to speak English and have a friendly helpful way with people.

Needs to be interested in wildlife and nature be able to tell customers about the forest and the wildlife.

Applicant needs to be flexible and able to work hard. Work hours can be long and are sometimes unpredictable (there will be 12 hour days!). This job requires you to work weekends and holidays - no exceptions!!

Prefer non-smokers.

Good Riding skills are essential.

Has to get CPR/First Aid certification after hiring.
